《一个人的军队》改编自2010年GQ杂志上由克里斯·希斯(Chris Heath)撰写的一篇文章。故事的主人公加里·福克纳(Gary Faulkner)是科罗拉多的一位普通建筑工人，还蹲过大牢。这位自信心爆棚的家伙希望靠一己之力抓获本-拉登，为此他还曾多次试图潜入巴基斯坦和阿富汗。
